Wipe off the makeup wipe mark-ups
If you use makeup wipes to cleanse makeup from your skin each night, here’s something you need to know: baby wipes are basically the same thing, and cost a lot less money.
I started wondering about them when I noticed that the baby wipes my sister-in-law uses on her adorable sons’ bottoms look and feel almost identical to the makeup wipes I use on my face.
Curious, I took a look at the ingredients and there didn’t seem to be many differences. It seemed like the makeup wipes I was paying $10 for 25, were the same as the baby wipes that cost $5 for 80.
I asked the experts at The Beauty Brains, and here’s what they said:
“These products have been developed for the essentially the same purpose — to cleanse and protect sensitive areas of the skin. So it’s little wonder that companies have come up with substantially the same solutions.”
So I decided to test baby wipes and see if they really do work the same as more expensive makeup wipes. It’s now a few weeks later, and my skin looks and feels great. For me, baby wipes work at least as well as makeup wipes do, so I’ve now switched over permanently.
So if you’re spending money on makeup wipes, consider trying baby wipes instead. You’ll probably be pleasantly surprised.

Or if you bought Woolworths Home Brand baby wipes they’d be 150 for $3.17 (or $1.17 for a purse pack of 25)
What a great idea! Do you recommend a brand?
Shopping Sherpa: That’s so cheap! I’ll have to check those out :)
Icy: Ive been using Johnson & Johnson and they work great. I really can’t tell the difference between them and makeup wipes, except that they smell a little bit different.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been spending a fortune on make-up wipes - I’m definitely going to get some baby wipes this weekend.
I use them when I’m travelling - they’re great for a quick wipe down in airport toliet stalls when you’ve been travelling in the same clothes for what seems like forever.
A fresh pair of knickers and socks, baby wipes and a brush of the toothypegs and you’re set to face the next leg of the journey…
This is super helpful! My daughters both have very sensitive skin and are involved in theatre, stage makeup and all.
Thanks!
I have super-sensitive skin so I initially tried the ’sensitive’ baby wipes, but the regular kind actually work great too. I guess my skin’s less sensitive than a baby’s bum ;)
My 80 year old mother told me about using baby wipes instead of makeup remover wipes. I have been using Johnson & Johnson baby wipes for nearly a year and find they are very good and much cheaper!
After I read about using baby wipes instead of the more expensive make up cloths, I tried it for myself. The baby wipes work just as well (and I get to spend the difference on other beauty products.) Thank you for the great tip!
Glad you found it useful Tastefully Done! :)
I’ve used the Johnson & Johnson wipes for years — ever since my mom showed me them as a kid.
